Every score maps to a Lower Super Output Area — roughly a few streets, around 1,500 residents. That's 36,000 areas across England and Wales, each with individual scores for all 21 factors. City-level averages hide the variation that matters most when you're choosing where to live.
Every factor is equally weighted by default, but your priorities are rarely equal. Turn up School Quality if you're moving with children. Raise Flood Safety if you're buying on a floodplain. The composite score recalculates instantly. Answer 3 questions to have weights set automatically, or fine-tune manually.
Every factor comes from an official source: the Land Registry, Ofsted, the Environment Agency, DEFRA, Ofcom, the Met Office, and others. No user reviews, no editorial scoring — only data collected and published by government agencies and statutory bodies.
Each factor is a percentile rank from 0 to 100 across all LSOAs in England and Wales. A score of 100 is the best-ranked neighbourhood for that factor; 0 is the worst. “Lower is better” factors — crime, house prices, flood risk, road noise — are inverted so that higher always means better.
The composite score is a weighted average of all the factors you have enabled. Neighbourhoods missing data for a particular factor are excluded from that factor’s weight, not penalised.
Full source details, raw value definitions, data vintages, and known issues for every factor are on the Data Sources page.
How do credits work?
Each credit unlocks one neighbourhood for your current session. You see the full score breakdown, all 21 factor scores, and can compare it with another area. Credits are session-based — refreshing the page resets your unlocked areas, so you'll need to use credits again next time.
Do free credits expire?
No. Your 5 signup credits stay in your account until you use them. They don't replenish — once spent, you'll need to buy a credit pack or subscribe.
What does the unlimited plan include?
Unlimited LSOA neighbourhood unlocks for £7.99/mo. No credit counting, no limits. Cancel any time — access continues until the end of your billing period.
Which pack should I buy?
The small pack (10 credits, £1.99) suits a single focused session. For comparing multiple areas across a few cities, the medium pack (30 credits, £4.99) covers most searches. If you use the tool regularly, the unlimited plan at £7.99/mo is better value than any pack.
Is my payment secure?
Payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card details. We only keep your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
